Peer Support Services – PS…Service

The PS…Service is open access and is for adults recovering from mental ill health, and those who care for them, living in Cheshunt, Bishops Stortford and surrounding areas. The service is staffed by Housing Specialist Workers, Peer Support Co-ordinators and a team of Peer Support Workers who, together, provide individually tailored support. The team of Peer Support Workers have a lived experience of mental ill health and have overcome similar challenges to those faced by those they support. This service offers support and expert guidance to create new beginnings and achieve goals.

Core aspects of support include:

    • Support with all aspects of housing need
    • Vocational advice
    • Benefit and debt guidance
    • Help to reduce episodes of crisis and to support recovery
    • Emotional and practical support to promote mental wellbeing
    • Signposting and onward referral to other services
    • Support to access existing community based services and resources
    • Support to build confidence, self-esteem and life skills

Support is provided through:

    • 1:1 advice and information via Herts Mind Network Wellbeing Centres
    • Telephone and email support (during the hours of 9am-5pm)
    • 1:1 outreach support
    • Group work via Herts Mind Network Wellbeing Centres
    • Group work via Herts Mind Network Outreach Centres

Dependent on need, individuals might benefit from a single contact through to on-going support up to a maximum of 12 weeks.
